The Players

Matty …

… is a highly unqualified (and often disqualified) banjo player and word vocaliser. He is also a very experienced musician and performer who hangs out with ‘The Rovers’ to look good. (He likes the clothes they wear.) Often… usually… adding an element of stupidity and audience related shenanigans to the act, (he’s renowned for stealing other people’s one-liners!!) keeping the rest of the band on their toes and somehow adding to the overall illusion of musicianship.

Miss Jodie …

…sings and dances, plays snare drum, washboard, honkers, kazoos, percussion and jugs… all on a mobile trolley! She keeps the business end of the music running… with a voice that carries to the bottom of your ear holes. Miss Jodie is a fantastic performer to watch with a contagious and up-beat energy.

Joshy …

… holds the tunes together on a steel resonator guitar, finger-pickin’ his finger-picks to finger-pick heaven. Formerly an integral member of sensational blues act, Ragweed, Joshys skills on the strings are a ‘sight to hear’. Along with Nat, Josh is vying for the not so enviable position of ‘Musician’ in the band…which basically means even less money and more designated driving!

Scotty …

… has harmonicas. He’s also scottamegaphone, scottawitcheshat, scottapair of pig rooters overalls, scottaukelele and usually scottathong on. Scotty is always charged and ‘set’ for every show with his array of bits and pieces. He’s also scottalot of credibility as an instrument collector and instrument player… entertaining in his sleep.

Nat …

(Unfortunately due to shoulder injuries, Nat no longer makes it to gigs – but we still love him!)

… is a qualified Gaffa Application Artist and mathematician who belts out tunes on the ‘bull-fiddle’… sound’s great… but he looks even better. Having performed from classical and orchestrated music, (formerly a member of the Phil’s Harmonica Orchestra) through to folk, blues and country, (formerly a member of The Gadflys) Nat adds a certain age(d) and experience to ‘The Rovers’… and he looks good.

Ben …

… is the member of the band who we won’t talk about…except to say that he is undoubtedly an exceptional musician and his title is Ben. He usually blows a wind instrument of some description, and the rest of ‘The Rovers’ can’t figure out why such a shit-hot musician would want to be seen with them!!??

(Due to Nat's absence, we are fortunate enough to have our bottom end defined by sousaphone / tuba player extraordinairre, Ben!)
